As our economy continues to circle the toilet and Democratic leaders seem hell-bent on flushing the American taxpayer right down with it, you can imagine my utter disgust when I read this in the AJC yesterday. That’s right folks, we’re at 7% unemployment right now, the banks aren’t lending, interest rates are on the rise, and jobless claims are projected to increase. The private sector isn’t hiring, but the Federal Government sure as hell is! Yep, Obama promised more jobs all right, he just didn’t specify that he meant jobs on the taxpayer’s dime.
To keep myself from having a coronary as I helplessly watch Congress steal more money from my bank account & investments, I had to find something to make me laugh. This little gem was being passed around the twittersphere today. I damn near choked I was laughing so hard. The language is pretty foul so I’m warning you now that its NSFW. But even if you have to watch this on your phone in the john, do it now! You’ll thank me later
AFSCME: the f#ckin’ Union that works for you! Capiche asshole?

Ally,
I’m with you on how frustrating the current situation is for the American taxpayer. It really frustrates me as a conservative (notice I didn’t say Republican). The Republican Party abandoned its principles over the last eight years and now thinks that by saying the right things about how the stimulus is wasteful spending can win back the people like me (and presumably you) that never abandoned our conservative principles. I refuse to vote for another Republican or another Democrat until a federal budget is mandated. Then, and only then, can we get back to the principles that made this country great. Smaller federal government, more importance on your local and state governance, and more of a focus on personal responsibility rather than depending on the federal government to bail you out of any problem you encounter. I just thought I’d post because you seem to rail on the Dems even though the Republicans were the same guys for the last eight years with pork and unnecessary spending that led us into the current debacle.
Don’t mistake my one post as an endorsement for the Republican party. I’m no Repub – they pushed fiscal & social conservatives like me out of the tent a long time ago.
This one short post was simply aimed at the latest debacle, that was written, engineered, and passed by the Democrats (and only 3 RINO repubs in the Senate).
Read some of my other posts involving politics and I’m sure you’ll have a clearer understanding of my views, especially because they seem to be in line with yours as well.
And as far as never voting for a Republican again until a federal budget is adopted? I see the method in the madness but I’m most definitely not willing to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Let’s face it, we are a 2 party system & that is not going to change any time soon, short of a revolution. The only way to get Conservatives back in positions of power is to elect them under the Republican Party’s umbrella. Please don’t talk to me a libertarians – they ARE NOT social conservatives, and they haven’t a shot in hell in getting elected. It is what it is. In the meantime, I feel very good about voting for social & fiscal conservatives that are members of the Republican Party, like Senator Jim DeMint & Governor Mark Sanford. They are few, but they are TRUE Reagan Republicans and I can’t fault them for the treasonous acts of their contemporaries like Arlen Spector, John McCain, Cynthia Snowe, Lindsey Graham, etc., etc., etc.
That’s fair. I probably came across as more serious than intended. I do realize the piece was meant to be in jest and not a ringing endorsement for one party. Just from an overall perspective, I’m very annoyed by the Rush Limbaugh’s of the world that supposedly represent the “conservative movement” are so quick to demonize this group of leaders when the lawmakers they endorsed for the last 8 years were no different.
I wouldn’t consider myself a libertarian, but unfortunately I can’t jump on the social conservative bandwagon. To me, social politics are a major part of the problem that causes idiots to be elected. Politicians know they can bring out the extreme wings of either side the aisle based on how they feel about things like abortion and same-sex marriage and the voters will conveniently ignore all the other things that politicians are responsible for.
I do appreciate that you stand by your ideals even though I respectfully disagree on the social conservative piece. And you are right about libertarians, they have a social agenda that clashes with their fiscal agenda and that’s why they don’t get elected. It’s sad, but we live in a country where whether a candidate is for or against gay marriage/abortion carries so much more weight than how he/she plans to end poverty or reform education or lower the national debt. I’m not saying it’s right or wrong, but I do think it’s sad that voters ignore these basic ideals of a stable society so that they may get a candidate that feels the same way as them about one issue rather than multiple issues.
Oh no problem. I can certainly see your points, I just didn’t want you to lump me into a certain category without at least first knowing my beliefs.
And I can see your points about social conservatism. I understand and respect our differences here as well. For me, as a Christian, social issues are very important and definitely affect my world view and how I vote. And as a patriot social issues are very important to me. I see the American way of life (ie: the morals & values that make us unique and as a world leader) eroding fast as a result of a socially progressive/liberal agenda. Issues like abortion & gay marriage are VERY important to me and ones that I think directly affect “basic ideals of a stable society”, but I’m not naive enough to think that because a candidate espouses his support for these 2 causes means he’s my new candidate du jour. However, you mentioned an issue that is truly the root cause of where we are today imo- and that is the uneducated, uninformed, apathetic, American voter. And unfortunately there are mulititudes of these folks on both sides of the isle. And I don’t see America rebounding from this current socialist, marxist agenda as long as voters remain so ignorant.
I’m so glad you decided to comment. It’s great having an intelligent discussion/debate with someone just as concerned about our current state of affairs as I am. And I have to thank you, because your ideas have inspired me to write a post for next week on the direction I see our country heading. I hope you’ll stop by and continue the discussion. I definitely want to read your opinion and hear your point of view. Thanks again Audit for a great discussion today – I really appreciate it & its encouraging to see another Patriot concerned about the same things that worry me

Ally, just thought I’d continue our conversation from before and invite to come over to my site and read and comment on my most recent post regarding the financial crisis. I look forward to continuing the conversation once you get your post up on the direction you see the country headed.
