And I can see your points about social conservatism. I understand and respect our differences here as well. For me, as a Christian, social issues are very important and definitely affect my world view and how I vote. And as a patriot social issues are very important to me. I see the American way of life (ie: the morals & values that make us unique and as a world leader) eroding fast as a result of a socially progressive/liberal agenda. Issues like abortion & gay marriage are VERY important to me and ones that I think directly affect “basic ideals of a stable society”, but I’m not naive enough to think that because a candidate espouses his support for these 2 causes means he’s my new candidate du jour. However, you mentioned an issue that is truly the root cause of where we are today imo- and that is the uneducated, uninformed, apathetic, American voter. And unfortunately there are mulititudes of these folks on both sides of the isle. And I don’t see America rebounding from this current socialist, marxist agenda as long as voters remain so ignorant.

I’m so glad you decided to comment. It’s great having an intelligent discussion/debate with someone just as concerned about our current state of affairs as I am. And I have to thank you, because your ideas have inspired me to write a post for next week on the direction I see our country heading. I hope you’ll stop by and continue the discussion. I wouldn’t consider myself a libertarian, but unfortunately I can’t jump on the social conservative bandwagon. To me, social politics are a major part of the problem that causes idiots to be elected. Politicians know they can bring out the extreme wings of either side the aisle based on how they feel about things like abortion and same-sex marriage and the voters will conveniently ignore all the other things that politicians are responsible for.

I do appreciate that you stand by your ideals even though I respectfully disagree on the social conservative piece. And you are right about libertarians, they have a social agenda that clashes with their fiscal agenda and that’s why they don’t get elected. It’s sad, but we live in a country where whether a candidate is for or against gay marriage/abortion carries so much more weight than how he/she plans to end poverty or reform education or lower the national debt. I’m not saying it’s right or wrong, but I do think it’s sad that voters ignore these basic ideals of a stable society so that they may get a candidate that feels the same way as them about one issue rather than multiple issues.

This one short post was simply aimed at the latest debacle, that was written, engineered, and passed by the Democrats (and only 3 RINO repubs in the Senate).

Read some of my other posts involving politics and I’m sure you’ll have a clearer understanding of my views, especially because they seem to be in line with yours as well.

And as far as never voting for a Republican again until a federal budget is adopted? I see the method in the madness but I’m most definitely not willing to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Let’s face it, we are a 2 party system & that is not going to change any time soon, short of a revolution. The only way to get Conservatives back in positions of power is to elect them under the Republican Party’s umbrella. Please don’t talk to me a libertarians – they ARE NOT social conservatives, and they haven’t a shot in hell in getting elected. It is what it is. In the meantime, I feel very good about voting for social & fiscal conservatives that are members of the Republican Party, like Senator Jim DeMint & Governor Mark Sanford. They are few, but they are TRUE Reagan Republicans and I can’t fault them for the treasonous acts of their contemporaries like Arlen Spector, John McCain, Cynthia Snowe, Lindsey Graham, etc., etc., etc.
